In the current news today people are debating about the RH bill or the Reproductive Health bill. I know that RH bill is all about sex education, natural and artificial ways of contraceptives and the so called “proper family planning”.
I was born Catholic and I will die as a Catholic, and I’m also a human right advocate and there lies the question, by faith or by choice?
I believe that the government has the responsibilities to provide us better health care, to give us choices and services available to the common man. I believe that the church has also the responsibility to uplift moral standards in our fast moving technological world.
But RH bill was design for whom? For the wealthy? Or for the poor? We often see neglected children by poor families on the streets and not being responsible for their actions. We often say that “kung sino pa ang mayaman sya pa ang kokonti ang anak at kung sino pang mahirap yung ang isang dozen ang anak”
Freedom of choice, every day we have freedom of choice on what clothes to wear, what food to eat and why not what type of birth control to take?
The church have said that some contraceptives are the same as abortion, and then we can advise our fellow Catholics not to use this contraceptive.
It’s plain and simple, God gave us the power to choose, if the government is trying to educate the common people how to use birth control, then the church should also educate the common man which birth control are “immoral”.
This time the government is acting his duty to provide good services to the poor and not to the rich only and I hope the church will understand and appreciate what the government is doing.
Yes, I’m pro RH bill and yes I’m a Catholic and also I’m a Filipino who has the freedom to choose.
